The End of the Edens

Did you know? About 75 years ago this fall, the first stretch of the Edens Expressway opened, making the trip from Chicago to the suburbs a whole lot easier.

For a time, Dundee Road was the last exit on the expressway! In those early days, many Sunday drives from Chicago into the country often ended right here in Northbrook.

And for some families, a Sunday drive became a house-hunting trip, with new model homes in Northbrook selling for less than $25,000.
